Red Cedar Speedway Opening Race Scheduled

Menomonie WI – Spring has arrived and so has the opening dirt track race of the 2012 racing season at the Red Cedar Speedway. The thirty ninth consecutive season  stock car racing opener at the Red Cedar Speedway, presented by the Red Cedar Racing Association, is scheduled for Friday night, April 13.

Stock car racing, a staple for Dunn County residents at the Rec Park on Menomonie’s east side, will be contested with six divisions in action after changes during the off season. Despite off season rumors, track officials want everyone to know that Late Models will again be a part of the weekly program. WISSOTA sanctioned Late Models will be joined in weekly action by the Modifieds, Super Stocks and Midwest Modifieds along with the Red Cedar Pure Stocks. New to the weekly schedule will be WISSOTA sanctioned Street Stocks, who return to the weekly show after having been dropped from the program several years ago. The addition of the Street Stocks has many drivers in that division excited and is expected to help pack the pit area with competitors in all divisions.  Featuring concessions from Springbrook Meats, the pit gates will open at 4 p.m. weekly, with the grandstands opening at 5 p.m. and the first green flag to drop at 7 p.m. sharp. Spectator admission remained unchanged with adult admission at $12 and kids twelve and under admitted absolutely free. The track phone number is 715-235-6318.

The Red Cedar Speedway will be racing every Friday night through August 17th with the season concluding Punky Manor Challenge of Champions scheduled for September 21st and 22nd.
