Menomonie WI, July 13 –Over one hundred race cars signed in to race Friday night at the Red Cedar Speedway but as Kid’s Night activities were wrapping up on the front straightaway, the dark clouds were banking up in the western skies and moving quickly to the east.
Two Pure Stock heats were completed with Jeremy Dahl and Krysta Swearingen being the winners. However, as the Midwest Modifieds were in the process of taking the green flag for their first heat race, the rains cut loose with a fury and that ended all possibilities of racing continuing.
Next Friday, July 20th will showcase the Gene Johnson Memorial Race which will feature a Super Stock special. Sponsored by Re/Max Realtor Shelley Watkins, the main event for the Super Stocks will pay at least $1,000 to the winner. Other extra awards including a long haul award of over $200 will be offered as the extra cash from sponsors continues to build as race day approaches. Drivers will also qualify for additional prizes to be announced on race day.
There will also be grandstand door prizes for the fans and regular admission prices will be charged. Rain checks from the July 13th race will be honored on this night and the draw/redraw format will be used for qualifying.
All classes that race on the normal Friday program will also be in action which includes WISSOTA sanctioned Late Models, Modifieds, Midwest Modifieds and Street Stocks along with the Red Cedar Pure Stocks.
Race time will be 7 p.m. The track phone number is 715-235-6318 and the speedway website at www.redcedarracing.com will also provide updated information.
